Leonardo sat at a table in the library. He had the Daily Prophet open and spread on the table top before him. He was reading the article on the front page about the disturbance at the train station. The article disturbed him somewhat. While it was commonly known that there were still active Death Eaters on the loose, it was quite another thing for them to attack in the middle of a muggle filled train station.

"Reading anything interesting?" Evie strolled up behind Leonardo and leaned over his shoulder, reading the article on the front.

He could feel her breath on his neck, and her hair brushed his skin as she leaned over him. Not wanting to get dragged back into her drama he decided it best if he left without speaking to her. He folded the paper and stuck it under his arm as he stood. He gave Evelyn a look to show he didn't care for her company, then began his way out of the library.

Evie leaned on the table and looked after him. "Oh come on. Can't we have a little chat?" She looked at him with puppy dog eyes and pouted a bit. "Come on big boy. Come back and play nice" she giggled.

Leonardo swiveled on his heel to look at her. Glare was more the appropriate term. "Why on earth would I want to 'chat' with you?" He had spite in his voice and an unpleasant look on his face. After all, it was Evelyn who had chosen to not see him. What had changed now?

She was happy to see that he at least stopped to speak to her, even if it wasn't the most friendly of interactions. "Because I'm good company, Leonardo. You should know that." Evie wet her lips with her tongue and pulled out a chair. She nodded her head in the direction of the chair, and then sat in the one beside it.

He hesitated for only a moment before returning to the table. But instead of sitting in the chair Evelyn had pulled out for him, he sat in the one diagonally from her, the farthest point away from her while still being at the table. He set the paper down and stared. "Well? What is it you want?"

"For Merlin's sake, Leonardo! Can't we just talk? Why would I want anything from you?" She pushed the other chair back in harder than she had been meaning to and it slammed again the table.

She was angry, that made him happy. "Because you are a spoiled little princess that only cares for herself." He was trying to keep his voice quiet because they were in the library, but Evelyn was getting on his nerves and he wasn't sure if he would be able to make it through an entire conversation with this woman without yelling.

His words stung but she wouldn't let him know how they affected her. Instead she put on a smile and said "flattery will get you everywhere Mr. Hughes." She laughed but it sounded forced and promptly stopped. "Don't be angry with me just because we don't agree on things. We can still be friends, can't we?" She was sincere in her words and hope he would agree.

Leonardo could tell that she meant what she said, and let his guard down slightly. "I don't think I can be just friends with you Evelyn." In his anger he had not noticed how beautiful she was today, but now that he was thinking more clearly he saw her. A million thoughts ran through his head, every one of them involving Evelyn. And Harvey. "And I don't think your boyfriend would care too much for it either." There was a twinge of bitterness in his voice that he didn't care to mask.

Her cheeks reddened and she could feel them getting warmer. "Leo-"
But when he brought up Harvey she instantly felt uneasy. "He's not my boyfriend." Honestly she didn't know where she stood with Harvey which only made the situation at present more difficult. She pulled her legs up onto the chair and sat indian style with her hands in her lap.

"Right. Well whether he is isn't, he thinks he owns you. And I'm not getting in the middle of that. Although, honestly I don't see how you could stand to be treated as though you were just some object. Because that is what you are to him, I can assure you of that." He didn't mean to be mean. He only said what he knew to be true. And it seemed like Harvey was just dragging Evelyn along, and it sickened him. She was too precious to be taken for granted.

"You don't know what you're talking about Leonardo. So just drop it. I don't like arguing with you." She bit her lip and for a moment there was just silence. "What were you reading about?"
In the back of her head she wondered if what Leonardo said about Harvey was true. Was he only using her? She insisted, to herself, that his accusations were completely unfounded. After all, Leonardo didn't know what Harvey said to her in private. But still it nagged at her.

"The attack at the train station." He slid the paper across the table at her. Leaning back in his chair he kicked his feet up on the table. "I'm betting there was more than just that Mackabey there. The ministry's been in such a right state lately...It's a wonder they caught anybody at all."
