Larissa had climbed aboard the Hogwarts Express with all of the other students, at Kings Cross Station. She lugged her heavy cart down the train's corridors looking for a compartment that wasn't completely full.
The first one she looked in sat three Ravenclaw students of various ages and a first year that had not been sorted yet. They were all playing some sort of card game that Larissa had never seen, and assumed it to be a muggle game.
The second compartment sat three Slytherins, all seventh years. Larissa thought better of sitting with them. Even though there was an empty seat she knew better than throw herself into the lino's den, so to speak.
She kept on down the corridor until she came upon a compartment that sat only two students, both first years and unsorted. " 'Ello there. Mind if I pop in and sit wich 'ya? Ev'rywhere else seems ta be full."
"Sure," said the boy, moving his stack bags from the seat next to him.
"Thanks." Larissa slid the door open all the way and dragged her trunk in, sliding it under one of the benches. "I'm Larissa. You lot ain't been sorted yet ay? What house you hopin' for them?"
"Anything but Slytherin," said the girl who was eying Larissa's Gryffindor badge affixed to her robes. "My mum's told me they're the worst."
Larissa laughed. "Your mum's got it right! Watch out fo' 'em, they're a nasty lot, they are." The conversation continued in that manner. The two first years asking Larissa about different aspects of Hogwarts life, and Larissa kindly explaining all she knew.
Time is a tricky thing. When you've nothing to do it seems to slow, causing every minute to feel like hours. But when you're having a good time and not wanting the fun to end, time seems to speed up. This was the case and before they knew it the train was sputtering to a stop at the Hogsmeade Station. Larissa pulled her trunk out from under the seat and said her goodbyes to the first years. She had explained to them that they were to be going with Hagrid on the boats across the lake, while the older students took the thestral drawn carriages up the drive way to the school.
It was crowded on the station platform. Everyone was pushing their way through to find the friends that had lost in the bustle of getting off the train. Larissa didn't bother with looking for her friends at the moment. She would just meet them at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall. She climbed into one of the carriages with a group of Hufflepuff students and the thestral began to pull them towards the school.
