Please keep in mind that everyone has a different style of writing, and you should be considerate of everyone. Some people can write very long posts, and some people write shorter posts. Please do not discourage anyone for writing differently than you. It comes off as rude.
Here are some helpful hints to writing a decent post:
*Use punctuation. It's hard to tell when one thought ends and another begins when you don't use periods and comas.
*Describe what your character is saying. Generally you don't just say something. Maybe you scream it, or snarl, or drawl. There are many different words to describe how you say something, which can be almost as important as what you say.
*Describe what your character is doing. Are you sitting or standing? Leaning back, crossing your legs, twirling your hair, etc. Think about your posture and describe it at length. This gives other players a better feel for the situation and they in turn can respond more effectively.
*Tell us what you are thinking about. We all think things that we don't say, even if they would be appropriate to say at the time. And more importantly, we all think things not appropriate to say, which is why we only think them.
*When starting or entering a thread, tell us what you were doing, where you were coming from, and why you are where you are at.
*Tell us what you are wearing. Anything worth mentioning under those robes? Or are you a Snivvelus-type of guy who only wears undies under his robes. Do you figgit with your clothes, how do they fit on you, etc.
Feel free to add on any thoughtful and helpful tips so that everyone can be the best RPer they can be. But be sure that your comments are positives, not negatives (Instead of saying 'Don't do this' tell us what you would do). And do NOT use any examples of what you consider bad posting. Examples of what a good post might look like are more than welcomed, but please don't showboat.
